Rivet Patterns Susan Swing Shorts and Pants

The Susan Swing Shorts and Pants offers multiple options to fit your style needs. With 8 inseam lengths ranging from cute shorts to dramatic pants, you can dress them up or down for any occasion. The swing design and pockets add both comfort and functionality. Add a sash for an extra touch of flair.
Susan is designed for 56" apparel woven fabrics. Susan has back darts for shaping, and uses an invisible back zip closure.

Susan includes eight inseam lengths: Four shorts lengths (2", 4", 7", 9"), 11" Bermuda, 15" Pedal Pusher, 21" Capri, and 31" Pants.
Side seam pockets (anchored into the waistband) are available for the 7" shorts and longer lengths.
Add a regular front/back tie sash or extended wrap around sash for that something extra.
Videos available for installing the invisible zip, sewing darts, and grading the pattern.

Fabric Requirements

This pattern requires a light weight woven fabric. Your fabric choice will influence how your final garment fits. A lighter, drapey fabric is recommended. Appropriate fabrics include peach skin, rayon challis, crepe, satin charmeuse, silk, and some linens and poly blends. Drape is key here to get the flowy skirt look. Most wovens will work, but may not give the effect you are looking for. The more structure the fabric has, the more the shorts/pants will stand away from your body.
Loose weave fabrics (such as double gauze) may be used with caution. Loose weaves tend to fray at the stitch lines.
Measurements are in yards and based on 56” (142cm) wide fabric. Yardage assumes that your fabric has been prewashed and preshrunk. Extra fabric may be required for matching prints, directional fabric, or if you need to add length.
Interfacing is a standard 20" wide.

Notions

Sewing Machine (serger and coverstitch are optional)
Needles - universal, microtex, or specialty needle depending on fabric choice
Thread
Iron
Scissors or rotary cutter
7-9" invisible zipper, longer is fine as you can cut to fit. *If you are adding length to the rise and/or are grading the waist to a smaller size, you may need a longer zipper.
An invisible zipper foot is optional, but they are inexpensive and make installing an invisible zipper SO much easier.
1/2 yard of lightweight fusible interfacing such as Pellon Featherweight 911FF.
Wonder Tape - optional, but will make your zipper installation smoother.
